Chelsea Blockey Graduating Class of 2015

Upon graduating in 2015, Chelsea moved to Brisbane City to attend the Queensland University of Technology. She is currently in her final year of a Fashion Communication and International Business double degree. During her first three years in Brisbane she was fortunate enough to live at Duchesne College, within the University of Queensland, where she had the full ‘college/sorority’ experience. Whilst living at Duchesne she made life-long friendships, involved herself in numerous community service ventures, carried out the role of Social Events Manager within Duchesne, and took a leadership position on the NAAUC (National Association of University Colleges) 2018 executive team. Towards the end of 2018 she also executed the role of Logistics Coordinator for the state capital TedXBrisbane conference. Working with various contrasting teams straight out of high school was an incredible experience for her.

Chelsea’s most rewarding opportunity to date has been her acceptance into Fordham University Gabelli School of Business in Manhattan last year. Chelsea has lived in New York since late December 2018 and will remain there until 2020 finishing up her degree. When receiving her letter of acceptance in November, Chelsea reached out to her favourite Australian Luxury brand, Zimmermann and she was extremely fortunate to secure a 6-month Wholesale, New York Fashion Week, and Public Relations Internship with them at their Head Office in Chelsea, Manhattan. The opportunities given to Chelsea within this internship were truly something out of a fashion fairy-tale. However, after coming to the end of the incredible experience she has actually decided to transition into the Investment Banking world. Her next month or two will be spent trying to secure an internship within a Consumer Private Equities firm. A full-time offer in Goldman Sachs’ Retail and Consumer Investment Banking Group in New York is something she hopes to achieve upon graduating university next June. As more of a personal hobby, Chelsea also runs a successful Fashion and Lifestyle blog ‘Brazen Greige’ (www.brazengreige.com).

Chelsea’s advice to all students at St Andrews is to dream BIG. Stay away from the drama and study hard. Don't let yourself be confined by the realities of life. Your dreams can become realities too.
