Kate Kingshott (nee Perkins 1999)
Since graduating from St Andrews in 1999, life has been exciting and often surprising for Kate! She initially undertook a degree in Education at Central Queensland University, Bundaberg, however upon graduating decided to pack up and do the traditional Aussie rite of passage of travelling and working in Europe. Kate spent 3 years in the UK where she met her partner and after convincing him the weather was much nicer in sunny QLD, moved back to Australia and started their own aviation maintenance company. This experience allowed Kate to publish in a number of journals on the role of emotions in making decisions in high risk occupations.
In 2010 she had her first child and in 2013 started her second degree, this time in Psychological Science. Graduating in 2016, Kate moved to Hobart to work as a School Psychologist at Eastside Lutheran College and has been in Hobart ever since. In 2017, she was lucky enough to foster a son, who was a student at the College. He has been an amazing addition to their family.
While she loved her role as the College Psychologist, at the start of 2019 she was offered and accepted the position of Director of Teaching and Learning at Eastside. She has also just started a Masters of Leadership and is developing a program for students with trauma backgrounds and who are disengaged in the educational system.
