Position Overview

  • Position title: Community Engagement Officer 

  • Workload: Full-time

  • Pay range: Commensurate with School Officer Level 3 of the Queensland Lutheran Schools Single Enterprise Agreement (plus superannuation). 

  • Hours per week: 38 hours per week

  • Employment basis: Ongoing

  • Anticipated start date: [23 March 2026 or by negotiation]

The Role:

The Community Engagement Officer strengthens relationships, communication, and engagement across the College community by coordinating marketing activities, community initiatives, enrolment communication, and alumni engagement programs. 

Working closely with the Director of Community Engagement & Enrolments, this role enhances the visibility, reputation, and connectedness of the College by producing high quality content, supporting events, nurturing relationships with current and past families, and maintaining accurate alumni data. 

This is a hands-on, people-focused position, ideal for a creative communicator who enjoys building community pride and celebrating the stories of students, families, staff, and alumni.

Key Responsibilities: 

In this role, you will:

  • Create engaging marketing and digital content – produce, edit, and publish high quality written and visual content for social media, newsletters, digital channels, and College publications, maintaining a consistent College brand voice. 
  • Support College marketing initiatives – contribute to content calendars, promotional collateral and campaigns that support enrolments, events, and community activities. 
  • Coordinate community engagement activities and events – plan, coordinate, and deliver events and initiatives that foster strong, positive connections with families, staff, students, and external partners (including some out-of-hours and weekend commitments).
  • Support enrolment communication and administration – assist with enrolment-related communication, respond to enquiries, and provide accurate, timely information to prospective families across digital channels.
  • Lead alumni engagement activities – maintain and enhance alumni records (TASS and Community Plus), support implementation of the Alumni CRM, coordinate reunions and alumni events, and develop alumni news and social media content. 
Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience in marketing, communications, community engagement, events, or a related field, with the ability to adapt your skills to a school environment.
  • Strong written, visual, and digital communication skills, including the ability to create engaging stories and content for social media, newsletters, print materials and digital platforms.
  • Experience coordinating events or community initiatives, with strong planning, time‑management and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using digital tools and databases, with the ability to learn new systems quickly; experience with CRM or alumni systems is advantageous.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with a warm, professional communication style that builds trust with students, families, alumni, staff, and partners.
  • A proactive, creative, and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a dynamic school environment.
  • Alignment with and commitment to the Christian ethos and values of St Andrews Lutheran College.
  • Commitment to child safety and wellbeing, consistent with College policies and legislative requirements
