We acknowledge and pay respect to the Kombumerri people who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and learn. We would like to pay our respects to all Elders past, present and emerging as they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of our Indigenous people.

At St Andrews Lutheran College, we understand that starting Prep is a significant milestone for your child, and we are dedicated to ensuring a smooth and exciting transition into this important stage of their education.

Our Prep Transition Program is designed to help your child feel comfortable, confident, and ready to embark on their educational journey. Here's a glimpse of what to expect:

Getting Ready for Prep Parent Information Night (August)

In August, we invite parents of children commencing Prep to our ‘Getting Ready for Prep Parent Information Night.’ This evening is dedicated to providing you with essential insights and strategies for preparing your child for their Prep year. It's a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents and learn about the exciting journey ahead.

Prep Fun Day and Principal’s Tour (September)

In September, we host the ‘Prep Fun Day and Principal’s Tour.’ During this session, students will have the chance to visit each of the Prep classrooms, participate in fun activities, and familiarise themselves with their new surroundings and teachers. Parents will also be taken on a tour of the College, allowing you to explore our facilities and resources.

Joining the Cohort Facebook Group (September)

Following the ‘Prep Fun Day and Principal’s Tour’ in September, we invite parents to take an additional step towards building a supportive community. Parents will receive an invitation to join the cohort's dedicated Facebook group.

This group is a valuable platform to connect with other parents, share experiences, and plan playdates over the summer break for the children. It's a fantastic way to foster friendships and we believe that strong connections among parents contribute significantly to a positive and enriching educational journey for your child.

Step Up Day (November)

To alleviate any worries and build excitement for the upcoming year, the children will participate in a ‘Step-Up’ session in November. During this event, your child will go to their new learning areas, meet their teacher, and experience their new educational space. It's a fantastic way for them to get a glimpse of what's to come.

Orientation Day (January)

Prep classrooms will be open for one hour on Orientation Day in January. This is a perfect opportunity for you to drop in with your child, say hello to the teacher, and help them become familiar with their new environment. It's a warm and friendly start to their Prep year.

Staggered Start

To ensure a smooth transition and personalised attention, students will be divided into two groups, each with a staggered start to the school year. The specific start date for your child will be communicated to you in November after Step Up Day. This approach helps us create a welcoming and supportive environment for every child.

We are committed to nurturing a love for learning and a sense of belonging right from the start. Our Prep Transition Program is just the beginning of the incredible journey your child will experience at St Andrews Lutheran College.
