We acknowledge and pay respect to the Kombumerri people who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and learn. We would like to pay our respects to all Elders past, present and emerging as they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of our Indigenous people.

We understand that transitioning from Junior to Secondary School is a significant step in your child's educational journey. At St Andrews, we are committed to making this transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Here's an overview of the Year 7 Transition Program designed to support both students and parents in this exciting transition:

Elective Choices (End of Term Three)

At the end of Term Three, we will provide detailed information about elective subjects available for Year 7 students. This empowers your child to explore their interests and make informed choices regarding their academic journey. We believe in nurturing well-rounded individuals, and these electives are an essential part of that journey.

BYOD Information Night (End of Term Three)

To support your child's learning in Secondary School, we will be hosting a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Information Night at the end of Term Three. Here, you will receive essential information about technology requirements, recommended devices, and where you can order them from. Technology plays a crucial role in today's education, and we're here to ensure your child is well-equipped.

Stationery Lists (Beginning of Term Four)

Stationery lists will be distributed at the beginning of Term Four, allowing you ample time to order and prepare your child for 2024.

Transition Day (Term Four)

The Transition Day, scheduled in Term Four, is a valuable opportunity for your child to experience a day in the life of a Secondary School student. They will attend some classes, meet teachers and fellow students, and gain familiarity with the Secondary School environment. This day aims to create a sense of belonging and ease any initial concerns.

Joining the Cohort Facebook Group (Term Four)

Following the ‘Transition Day’ we invite parents to take an additional step towards building a supportive community. Parents will receive an invitation to join the cohort's dedicated Facebook group.

This group is a valuable platform to connect with other parents and share experiences. I encourage all parents to use the platform to introduce yourself to other parents. It's a fantastic way to foster friendships and we believe that strong connections among parents contribute significantly to a positive and enriching educational journey for your child.

Orientation Day (First Day of Year 7)

The first day of school will be Year 7 Orientation Day. This day is designed to ensure a smooth start to the new school year. Your child will receive their timetable, meet their teachers and classmates, familiarise themselves with the school layout, and gain an understanding of the expectations and opportunities that lie ahead.

Parent Afternoon Tea and Connect Teacher Meeting (End of Orientation Day)

To wrap up Orientation Day, we invite parents to join us for an afternoon tea. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's Year 7 Connect Teacher, who plays a vital role in their journey. It's a chance to ask questions and build a strong partnership with the school.

We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey with your family. Our aim is to ensure a seamless transition into Secondary School, where your child will have the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive in a supportive and nurturing environment.
