We acknowledge and pay respect to the Kombumerri people who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and learn. We would like to pay our respects to all Elders past, present and emerging as they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of our Indigenous people.

At St Andrews, students are provided with valuable opportunities to engage in interschool sports and develop their athletic abilities. Students in Years 5 and 6 have the chance to participate in the Gold Coast Interschool Sport Association competition, which takes place on Friday afternoons.

Prep to Year 3

We have partnered with reputable providers to bring your child an enriching sports experience in AFL, cricket, and football. Our program offers a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in physical activity, build essential skills, and develop a lifelong love for sports—all conveniently held afterschool on College grounds.

Each term, the program will focus on one of the sports (AFL, cricket, or football) to provide age-appropriate coaching and skill development. This approach ensures that your child gets the most out of each sport while enjoying a diverse and well-rounded sports experience throughout the year.

As registration and payment for each program is made directly to the provider and you have the flexibility to choose which sports and terms your child wishes to participate in.

Year 4 to 6

As students progress through Years 4 to 6, the Inter Lutheran, Hinterland and South Coast pathways become available, allowing them to trial and potentially earn coveted spots on our representative teams. These pathways provide an exciting opportunity for students to showcase their sports skills and passion. Participating in these pathways is not only a chance for sporting excellence but also an avenue for personal growth, where valuable life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship continue to be nurtured.

Carnivals

Students from ELC to Year 12 will participate in numerous Interhouse Carnivals throughout the year. To find out more, I encourage you to visit our Carnivals page by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

Year 5 and 6 Interschool Sport

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of sports for students to choose from, ensuring a well-rounded sporting experience. In Semester One, students can participate in Boys and Girls Soccer, Mixed Netball, Boys and Girls AFL, and Girls Oztag. This diverse range of sports allows students to explore different disciplines and find their passion.

In Semester Two, we continue to offer exciting sports options for our students. They can take part in Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys Oztag, Girls Touch, Mixed Tee Ball, and Mixed Cricket. These sports provide opportunities for students to further develop their skills and foster teamwork and camaraderie.

By participating in interschool sports, our students not only enjoy the thrill of competition but also learn valuable life skills such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. These experiences contribute to their personal growth and holistic development.
