At St Andrews we offer a comprehensive Beach and Water Safety Program for all students in Prep to Year 3. This engaging and educational program spans over two weeks and is conducted by experienced staff from Queensland Surf Life Saving.

The Beach and Water Safety Program, conducted during Term Four, is designed to provide our younger students with essential knowledge and practical skills to ensure their safety when enjoying beach activities. We believe that learning about beach safety should be both fun and educational, and our program incorporates interactive sessions that engage and empower our students.

Key Features of our Beach and Water Safety Program

Expert-Led Sessions

Our program is delivered by qualified staff from Queensland Surf Life Saving who possess extensive knowledge and experience in beach safety. These experts guide our students through various activities and discussions, sharing essential safety tips and strategies in an engaging manner.

Development of Strategies and Practices

Through the program, our younger students develop practical strategies and practices that enable them to make safe choices while enjoying beach-related activities. They learn about key aspects such as identifying safe swimming areas, recognising potential hazards, understanding water currents, and applying sun protection measures.

Fun and Educational Experience

We believe in creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment. Our Beach and Water Safety Program incorporates interactive activities, games, and simulations to help students grasp the concepts effectively. By combining education with fun, we ensure that our students retain the knowledge and skills they acquire during the program.

We understand the importance of equipping our students with the necessary tools to stay safe, particularly in beach environments. Our Beach and Water Safety Program is just one of the many ways we go above and beyond to instil essential life skills in our students.

Beach safety was a good experience for learning how to be safe in the water and learn about the water safety signs.
