We acknowledge and pay respect to the Kombumerri people who are the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and learn. We would like to pay our respects to all Elders past, present and emerging as they hold the memories, traditions, culture and hopes of our Indigenous people.

St Andrews shares an extraordinary connection with the Kokoda Challenge, an endurance event that holds a special place within our College community.

We provide unique opportunities for both students and staff to participate in this challenging and transformative experience.

Opportunities to Represent St Andrews

Students in Years 10 to 12

St Andrews offers students in Years 10 to 12 the chance to form teams consisting of four students and a staff member to participate in the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, and/or Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge events. These events provide a remarkable opportunity for our students to test their physical and mental strength, while also fostering teamwork, resilience, and personal growth.

Training and Preparation

Teams selected for the Kokoda Challenge events undergo comprehensive training throughout Term One and Term Two to ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead. Our dedicated staff members provide guidance, support, and expertise, helping teams build their endurance, develop essential skills, and strengthen their bond as a unit. Teams can choose from the 30km, 48km, or 96km event options, catering to different fitness levels and aspirations.

We believe that participation in the Kokoda Challenge goes beyond physical endurance. It is an opportunity for our students to connect with the spirit of Kokoda, embrace the values of courage and mateship, and gain a deeper understanding of the historical significance of the Kokoda Trail. Students forge lifelong memories and friendships through this extraordinary endurance event.
